| Blamed for the terrorist bombing of the Kremlin, IMF operative Ethan Hunt is disavowed along with the rest of the agency when the President initiates “Ghost Protocol”. Left without any resources or backup, Ethan must find a way to clear his agency’s name and prevent another attack. In the fourth installment of the Mission Impossible series, Ethan Hunt and a new team race against time to track down Hendricks, a dangerous terrorist who has gained access to Russian nuclear launch codes and is planning a strike on the United States.
An attempt by the team to stop him at the Kremlin ends in a disaster, with an explosion causing severe damage to the Kremlin and the IMF being implicated in the bombing, forcing the President to invoke Ghost Protocol, under which the IMF is disavowed, and will be offered no help or backup in any form. Undaunted, Ethan and his team chase Hendricks to Dubai, and from there to Mumbai, but several spectacular action sequences later, they might still be too late to stop a disaster.

| IMF agent Trevor Hanaway is killed in Budapest by using assassin Sabine Moreau, who takes his file containing Russian nuclear launch codes so she can provide them to a person recognized simplest as “Cobalt”. IMF agent Ethan Hunt has purposely turn out to be incarcerated in a Moscow jail to collect Bogdan, a source of information on Cobalt. With help of Jane Carter, Hanaway’s handler, and newly promoted discipline agent Benji Dunn, Hunt and Bogdan make their get away.
IMF duties Hunt to infiltrate the Kremlin to advantage greater information on Cobalt. During the challenge, an unknown entity declares at the IMF frequency ordering the detonation of a bomb, alerting Russian guards. Hunt’s crew aborts the project simply as a bomb destroys lots of the Kremlin. Carter and Dunn escape, but Hunt is captured by SVR agent Anatoly Sidorov and charged with destroying the Kremlin. Hunt escapes and meets with the IMF Secretary, in Moscow on different business.
The Secretary tells Hunt they had to provoke “Ghost Protocol”, disavowing IMF, but secretly orders Hunt to keep to pursue Cobalt. Sidorov’s forces capture up to seek, and the Secretary is killed; Hunt escapes at the side of the Secretary’s aide and intelligence analyst William Brandt.
